SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER
Special Education Teacher Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. This includes developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (PEI) for students, adapting curriculum to meet different learning styles, and collaborating with parents, teachers, and support staff to ensure the success of each student.
Key responsibilities:
- Assessing students' strengths and needs to develop personalized education plans
- Creating and implementing PEI that address students' learning goals and objectives
- Differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
- Providing direct instruction in academic subjects and social skills
- Monitoring and tracking student progress through ongoing assessment
- Collaborating with general education teachers and support staff to ensure a cohesive and inclusive learning environment
- Communicating regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns
- Attending PEI meetings, team meetings, and professional development sessions to stay current on best practices in special education
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- State teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a school setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet students' individual needs
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
- Dedication to advocating for the needs of students with disabilities
